Co- Ordination Compound iit jee lectures for free in 2020

Coordination Compounds Ligands:  an ion or molecule capable of donating a pair of electrons to the central atom via a donor atom. Unidentate ligands:  Ligands with only one donor atom, e.g. NH 3 , Cl - , F -  etc. Bidentate ligands:  Ligands with two donor atoms, e.g. ethylenediamine, C 2 O 4 2- (oxalate ion) etc.  Tridentate ligands:  Ligands which have three donor atoms per ligand, e.g. (dien) diethyl triamine. Hexadentate ligands:   Ligands which have six donor atoms per ligand, e.g. EDTA.  Chelating Ligands:  Multidentate ligand simultaneously coordinating to a metal ion through more than one site is called chelating ligand. Example: Ethylenediamine (NH 2 CH 2 CH 2 NH 2 ) These ligands produce a ring like structure called chelate. Chelation increases the stability of complex.  Werner’s Theory: Metals possess two types of valencies i.e. primary (ionizable) valency and secondary ...

Redox Reaction iit jee full lecture for free in 2020

Redox Reactions Chemical Reaction is the process which leads to the transformation of one set of chemical substances to other substances. Classically, chemical reactions encompass changes that strictly involve the motion of electrons in forming and breaking of the chemical bonds. The concept of electron transfer can easily explain the redox reaction in case of ionic substances. However, for covalent compounds  oxidation and reduction or redox reactions are explained using   a new term oxidation number . The term  oxidation   was first used to mean the addition of oxygen to an element or compound, or the removal of hydrogen from a compound.  Reduction  meant the addition of hydrogen to an element or compound, or the removal of oxygen from a compound. Such definitions have been extended and now-a-days many oxidation-reduction, or redox, reactions are best interpreted in terms of transfer of electrons. Oxidation is defined as the loss of elec...

Radioactivity iit jee lectures for free in 2020

Radioactivity Radioactivity was observed by  Henri Becquerel  in 1896 that some minerals like pitchblende emit radiation spontaneously, and this radiation can blacken photographic plates if photographic plate is wrapped in light proof paper. He called this phenomenon  radioactivity . It was observed that radioactivity was not affected by temperature, pressure or chemical combination, it could therefore be a property that was intrinsic to the atom-more specifically to its nucleus. Detailed studies of radioactivity resulted in the discovery that radiation emerging from radioactive substances were of three types:  α-rays, β-rays and γ-rays .  Radioactivity is basically the process by which a nucleus of an unstable atom loses energy by emitting some particles . It is often termed as radioactive decay or nuclear decay. The material that spontaneously emits the three kinds of radiations alpha, beta and gamma rays is said to be a radioactive substance....
